Secure your website with a password, please
Unfortunately for everyone, we find there are some unpleasant people out there in cyberspace. Therefore, please password protect your personal website. We have found that auto bulk mailers / individuals will write various unwanted things on anything that they are able to enter as an outsider. Guestbooks and RSVP are particularly vulnerable. It isn't just this website, we find it seems to be all websites. We own several and it has happened on all of them. Including our own demo where we have removed the demo guestbook. We have to keep one step behind them at all times. So Please, for the full enjoyment of your very important website for your very important day, please password protect your site.

Can I start with the free plan and upgrade?
Of course, the choice is yours. We welcome you to start with a free wedding website trial first.

It is totally free to try out for 14 days. No credit card required. Then you may upgrade to one of our paid plans.

No. All data is retained to your new plan.

Yes, you get a sub domain of Engaging Affair for absolutely no extra cost. The address will be www.yournames.engagingaffair.com.

I bought a domain through a domain company. Can I use that?
You need to ask your domain registra. You might be able to do this by accessing your domain settings (no guarantees). Set it to masks or frame forward to your Engaging Affair URL. We cannot do this for you as we have no access to your domain account. For help, you should contact your domain provider if you have questions on how to do this.

After I register how long does it take to see it on the internet?
You will be able to see it immediately within our system. But sub domains have to propagate to be seen on the WWW. Propagation may take 4-24 hours to be able to type in your domain and have it show.

Will you place advertisements on my website?
Short answer-No. To protect our copyrights there are very small words that state the site is powered by engagingaffair.com at the bottom of your website. That is the extent of any advertising or branding on your personal website.

Will you send me spam mail?
Will we sell your email to third parties? Absolutely not. We protect your privacy any way we can. Will we contact you when it specifically concerns your website, such as registration, expiration, tips. Yes we do, but only when it concerns your specific account. Occasionally, third party stores and vendors offer us discount coupons for our users. If you wish to be placed on the mailing list for these offers, please contact us through the contact us page at the bottom of the website.

Will you contact my guests?
No way. They are your guest, not ours. We have no contact with your website guests unless you buy a friend a gift certificate. Although we appreciate any referrals you may give to your friends with an upcoming wedding.

Alternatives?
We welcome every couple. Alternatively, because of the design flexibility of our website themes, we feel they can be used for many of life's Engaging Affairs. Wedding Anniversary, family reunion, Sweet Sixteen, new baby, could all use a beautiful website.

I do not know HTML. I haven't done much photo editing. I'm not a clever author. How can I make this website?
Well, luckily you do not have to be a IT whiz. Hints and Tips page is the best place to start. Most importantly at first, take the time to learn to navigate through the Website Builder. Much is point and click once you learn that. Check your progress often by using the Preview Website button under Website Builder. We have some preloaded designs for you also, you can use instead of uploading pictures at first. Play with it and have fun. If you need us, we are here to help.

What if I don't want to use all of the available pages. What if I'm not ready to fill out empty pages?
You only use the pages you want on your website. The rest of them can be made inactive forever or until you are ready to enter your information.

I don't see a preset page with the title I want.
Easily make one while in My Account. Use custom page maker under Website Builder left menu. There you can add as many pages as you like. Some titles which are not there and you might like are:
Rehersal Dinner
Pets
Then and Now
Do you want to know a secret?
Showers
We are really into (hiking, boating etc) sport.
You get the idea. There are a world of topics out there. One warning is not to get to bloated so that your visitors get tired of reading. We personally think the websites look the nicest with between 1-20 pages, and say everything you really want to say.

Can I change the order of my pages?
Yes, easily.

Every other site says this just takes moments. I'm busy, is that correct?
Yes and no. It takes only a few moments to register and get started, but you can spend all the time you want in developing your website. We recommend you have all your photo's and event information ready to go to make entering your information easier. Also, some people type out everything they want to say in Word or another editing program. One they are very familiar with and use everyday. Then all they have to do is cut and paste. But it is certainly up to you.

I don't have time to build a large website OR I just want basic information on my website.
You can easily make your website only one page or just a few pages. Make the rest of the pages inactive.

Can my pages be edited. Font and pictures changed?
As much as you want. We have a text editor and changing your pictures is a matter of uploading a new one.

I've been to websites that limit my photo upload. Do you?
No, we do not place a limit on your pages at all. But please remember we are not a long time archival storage site. There are excellent site for that purpose. You may pay for additional months after your wedding for up to a year.

Can I enter my own gift registries?
You can enter your own registries and link to them. We just provide you with a few to get you started. You can use a few of them or none of them.

Photography editing has me baffled. What would be the specifications for the pictures I load? And what format do I need to have them saved?
Simply, smaller is better. Not only will very large photographs disturb the look of the template, they take a very long time to load, making your visitors wait.
The easiest thing to do is to try a photograph and see the result. Then as you work on the look you like, you can use these suggestions for your format. Please use photo's saved in .jpeg or .gif file format. Every computer monitor is different. Every visitor will see a slight difference. That's just the way the internet is.
Sometimes you may have to try different crops and sizes to get the look you want. To start off, we suggest you upload 72 dpi, RGB photos at these recommended sizes:
We have found for what we call the Main Photo (Square) that a size around 210 X 130 pixels works best.
The photo on the pages, such as your Welcome page works better at no larger than 400 x 300 pixels.
Headers work better around 528 x 170 pixels.
Once again, and this is important, because the templates sizes are preset by space, very large photo's might disturb the coding of the page.

How do I upload photos?
You can upload pictures on almost every page of your website if you wish. There will be a section on each page which will prompt you to browse your computer for a photo file to upload. Once you have selected the file, click "Upload Photo". Your Main Website Photo utilizes The Photo Editing Tool to upload your photo. Follow the steps provided on the Main Website Photo page to upload that photo.

Before I start, I'm worried about my security.
Really? Your entire website may be password protected if you wish.
Additionally, EngagingAffair.com has no access to your credit card information. All of your payment information goes through a third pay site, PayPal, a very well known and trusted site. Our shops are also handled through a third party vendor. We don't even see your credit card information, nor do we want to.
Actually, other than your wedding date and location, you are listing not much more than what is on your business card. And as far as pictures, if you looked at a stranger's photo of their grandmother, would it mean much to you?

Yes, but what about your site itself is it safe?
We hold a private SSL (secure socket layers) certificate. SSL encrypts information as it is transferred across the internet. Believe us when we say we don't want problems any more than you do. We take every step to prevent it. Our company is based in the USA. It is also scanned daily for any intrusion.

How do I cancel my free trial or my wedding website?
We don't want to see you leave but if you feel you must, Click the 'Cancel Account' link under the 'Account' tab in your control panel. Please be very sure before making the decision because your information will be purged from the system with a cancellation notice. Please allow 1-24 hours. We will not be able to recover it.
